Scotomas form when I move my head

If I fix my gaze on an object, and then move my head down while continuing to look at the object with my eyes, I then see a circular grey spot grow in size the further I move my head.  The grey spot seems to be centered directly over my natural blind spot in the eye, interestingly.   Then, if I fix my gaze again, but this time move my head right, then I see an arc shaped scotoma that lights up bright, located just to the right of the circular grey scotoma.

I have an epiretinal membrane growing in this eye that the doctor says has started to pucker and cause traction.  Interestingly, he said the membrane was off to the size of the macula.  I'm wondering if the membrane is growing over the optic nerve and interfering with it or even damaging it by putting pressure or traction on the optic disc or thin retinal cells around the eye's natural blind spot (given the visual phenomenon I described above)?

Has anyone heard of a membrane needing to be removed because it's harming the optic nerve / optic disc?  What else could be causing the scotomas I'm seeing?  These are new phenomenon that I'm sure just started happening recently.  They're quite noticeable.

Hopefully the "doctor" you are seeing tomorrow is an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Be sure and share your observations with her/him.

Yes he is an opthalmologist.
Can you please give a wild giyess what this could be? Could it be central serous choritnopathy?
Also, I am 7 months pregnant now.. have no vision issues. Just dry eye. I have read that some women develop CSR in their pregnancy.

Hi. I had lasik in december 2017. And was pregnant in February. I had extreme vomiting and nausea in the first trimister which had to be stopped through medication.
When i was four months pregnant i noticed a ball of light that would just come for a second in the corner of my vision. It would either move from top to bottom or bottom to top. My doctor told me it was due to bloodpressure changes. ( i am always near 110/63 ). It would come 3,4 times a day for two months then stopped. I can see it now only when i am exhausted or too much on my phone. Any ways after that i started noticing too much about my vision. Every little thing.
So one day when i was in the toilet ( its small with white tiles) i tilted my head to the right and noticed blurred \rippled\water like vision. It only happens when i tilt. And is only seen on white nackgroun and doesnt distort my normal vision.
I have an appointment tomorrow with a doctor but its friving me crazy. I have read some scary things. Is it pregnancy related? Has it happened to anyone?

I too have a Macular Pucker.  I experienced a gray spot framed by an arc flash.   In my case, it was at the 4 clock hour on my right eye.  It turned out to be a small retinal tear.  I suggest that you call your opthamologist for advice.  Good luck.

What you are describing sounds like a natural "entoptic" phenomenon that occurs when you look to your extreme gaze and the traction from your eye muscles causes some "pulling" on the retina and can create the effect you describe.  Its usually more visible against a light colored wall, right?  I think most people don't notice it, but those of us who obsess over our eyes are generally looking for stuff and we notice it.

I have no idea if this is worsened or compounded by your ERM and that is likely a separate issue.  Good luck.

Hi.  No, it’s much more visible against dark objects.  For example, if I’m looking at the grass and make this head maneuver, the grass in that region of my vision turns nearly white in color.  Literally. It’s extremely weird and concerning.
