Seeing red dots

My father, 84yo is seeing red dots most of the time now.  His opthamologist said he does not know what they are. The opthamologist is treating dad for glaucoma and cataracts.  Dad was told  taking Flomax can interfere with success of removing cataracts so he is going off Flomax1 year so he can have his cataracts removed.  Are the red dots related in some way to dad's glaucoma and/or cataracts?
Is there something he can do or take or wear ( specific prescription) to improve his situation?
Thank you in advance for your attention to my questions.

Dear Shoeglam
Your father has some ocular and medical conditions.  It is difficult to say without a complete examination the cause of his “red” dots.  Since your dad’s eye doctor did not know, I would recommend pursuing further work up with a comprehensive eye MD, a retinal specialist or neuro-ophthalmologist to determine the cause.  Some questions which should be pursued, include did the dots appear suddenly, or not?  Are they there with the eye closed? Is he taking any other medicine or have any other medical conditions?

Sorry no on has answered you. The doctors are very busy. I don't know about your father's condition. Have you thought about seeking an expert doctor close to you and getting a second opinion. You can look for a glaucoma or cataract doctor at www.aao.org. You can look on the castle connelly online and search for a small fee; they can recommend the best doctors.
