Severe myopia / retinal detachment options

Hello,

We live in the states and my wife has severe myopia / retinal detachment. She has a tremendous amount of floaters and seeing is becoming challenging for her these days.  Her prescription is approximately -15 in each eye if this is needed.  Computer work especially is coming to a point where maybe she cannot continue any longer with her work.

She has been seeing a local Dr but I think with her condition I would like to find a specialist that can confirm or give her some hope that things can be fixed or the inverse.   What options are there for someone with this condition?  Is there a specific type of Dr she should see that can do this?  I am willing at this point to fly some place too if there is a specialist that can help her at this point.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

She needs to be under the care of two types of Eye MD:  a retina/vitreous Eye MD and a comprehensive Eye MD.  Probably see each at least once/year 6 months apart.  Where do you live I might be able to suggest a group of eye MDs that specialize in this problem?

Thanks for the comment.  We live in North Dakota currently.   If there is nothing in this area we can travel to Minneapolis where I am guessing the odds of finding something would be better.
I spent my two years in the USAF in Grand Forks AFB, ND.  You should be able to find a good general ophthalmologist in GF or Fargo.  Seeing a retina specialist at U of Minn Dept of ophthalmology would be a good choice.   I do not know now if there is a retina group in Fargo, ND.  I would start working on the appointments ASAP.
