Silicone oil removal

Hello, can you please tell me how long is the surgery for silicone oil removal, a day before yesterday I've had an eye exam, and surgeon told me that everything is ok, retina is good, and he will remove oil next month, only thing that was lets say irregular was a very little fluid or something like that on the periphery of eye, I hope I wrote it right, as my native language is Croatian, not English :)
He said that that fluid is not the problem... Can I have your opinion on that, an that little fluid cause another detachment or not, and how long is the surgery, and do your patient stay overnight after that procedure.

Thank you very much.

Surgery for oil removal is faster than the one for retina detachment (VVPP) and you dont have to stay overnight, they send you home after the procedure.
For sure its not good be travelling a lot after and they will want you there for a first look the next morning, but believe, if things went ok, its pretty simpler than the one you did.
Wishing you all the best, take care!
I dont know about the fluid,I didnt have it but guess your doctor knows what is he doing.
I did my oil removal together with the cataracts I've got after the RD,that increase a little bit the risks but it was all fine,my surgery was is July 2010

yeah, this site is awesome, I learned a lot, doctors are really helpful, and also lot's of members who have had similar problems...

Thank you AppleBr once again on your wishes, and once again, best wishes to you to, I hope doc Ray or Doc John will answer me about the fluid, I want their opinion aswell.
I do trust my surgeon, but as I said, he didn't have much time to explain me, all he did say is, it will be good, don't worry... but I want to know more about that fluid, is it dangerous, could it be removed without coming back ect..

They told me almost nothing, the basic things are the ones you mentioned.I did first in a private clinic and second in a School hospital and in both places had almost no previous talk with the surgeon.I do know what it means...

hey AppleBr, thank you for your answer, and thank you for wishing me all the best, same goes to you :)
Well, here in Croatia we have free hospital treatment, as well as private clinics (I don't know what staying policy those clinics have..) but I had to stay 2 days in hospital (free) after they did RD surgery, I came on monday morning and left wednesday morning... what did they told you after the surgery, was it the same as for RD surgery, no bending, slow mooving ect..?
I didn't have time to ask my surgeon all those questions, he was very busy, so.. I'm left with internet till operation, 19th of the next month...

Btw, I didnt have to stay overnight when I did the VVPP,did you?
I live in Brazil, here they send you home as well as the surgery is over ( first one was in a private day clinic - just in case you can be wondering its due to our precarious public service - you know what I mean :-) )
