Single Focus Tecnis for non-cataract patient

I have been wearing contact for 47 years (mostly gas permeable) with a correction of -10.75 in each eye.  Lately, I can not comfortably wear my contacts more than 6 or 7 hours at a time.  The only way I can read with my contact is if I wear reading glasses over them.  My back-up glasses are practically useless.  I have been reading on this forum and other places on the Internet about Tecnis aspheric IOLs.  One of the docs told another questioner to ask their doctor about bilateral aspherics with one eye plano 20/20 at distance and one eye 20/20 at near with monovision or blended vision aspheric.  I don't mind having to wear reading glasses only if I elect to have some type of RLE surgery.  Could someone please tell me if doctors will perform this type of surgery on non-cataract patients?  And if so, how much this procedure would cost for someone without cataracts?
Thank you for your help.

Yes, you could undoubtedly find a doctor who would do a refractive lens exchange--cataract surgery (in '06) with aspheric monofocal IOLs were about $10,000.  In addition to the risks of surgery, your risk of retinal detachment would increase significantly.  You could achieve the same vision without surgery by wearing contact lenses.  If your current contacts have become uncomfortable, there may be other brands that would work much better for you.  (At least in my case, the comfort level between different contacts varies a lot.  Certain types become uncomfortable for me after 6-7 hours; others are excellent every waking minute.)  It would be an excellent idea for you to try monovision with contacts to see how you like it before getting surgical monovision.  There are also many brands of bifocal/multifocal contacts available which would let you lose the readers.  BTW, I don't know your age or sex, but I think that many people actually look more attractive in the right glasses.
