Small black dot in vision

Hi everyone, I'm a first time poster.

Yesterday I was visiting an eye clinic for several other vision problems I've been having, however this one has grabbed my attention mostly because I cant seem to find much info on it. I was in the exam room after they checked my vision to prescribe me glasses, they had also just checked my eye pressure which was normal. I have astigmatism and haven't been for a checkup in 10 years, something they made a point of letting me know was a bad idea.

On the TV screen in the front of the room they had a hollow circle with a part missing at the bottom, something I learned was a visual acuity chart for illiterate people. While I was sitting down I happened to notice in the upper left part of my vision near the center in my right eye, a sharp round dot had appeared. This was after several basic exams I don't really know the names of. This dot was very defined and surrounded by a white aura or halo which was substantial enough to interfere with the black circular pattern shown on the screen. I mentioned it to the doctor however she wrote it down but didn't say much about it. I thought at the time it might have been due to eye strain from one of the tests, however it's persisting. The doctor said my eye pressure was fine, she checked my eyes with an ophthalmoscope, but other than that nothing else was done, it was a very basic eye clinic.

After the consultation my right eye was noticeably more strained and sore in the front than my left eye was (my right eye is my stronger eye). I didn't think much of it but after sleeping, I woke up to notice an after image effect of the spot was in my vision, as if someone had shone a bright light into my eye, but it was stationary and didn't move the same way as a floater or the typical after-image effects you get after looking into a bright light.
Not long after my eyes adjusted it became harder to see, however I could see it noticeably if I went outside and looked at street lights in the distance. It appeared as a small-ish dot with a white aura, just as it did at the clinic, but slightly smaller. I created some graphics to re-create the same image I saw at the clinic, and I can see it there. It's now been 24 hours and if I close my eyes for about 10 minutes and open them, I see the after image effect of it. If I go outside and look at the sky (its overcast) I don't see it, it seems to only appear around bright lights at a distance or contrasted images when I sit far back.

The spot seems to only occur in the upper left part of my vision near the center, it seems to be mostly stationary but never moves much from that place although it seems to dance around. I do have eye floaters, and this is nothing like that.

I've included a link to a picture which I photoshopped to the best of my ability the symptoms I'm seeing. Although the dot in reality is much smaller, it's impossible for me to convey a sense of scale, also at this size it more properly shows what I'm seeing. It's not 100% accurate but it's my best and I hope it helps. https://i.imgur.com/M7S65j7.jpg

Thanks in advance for any help, sorry about the long post.

I would suggest your report your problem to the eye clinic that checked your eyes. Often they will do a recheck at no charge.

I was at the clinic when this happened, the doctor seemed to not be too concerned with it. Right now it's become more easy to see this spot, mostly when I blink rapidly and its always in the same place. I'm going to try to get to a better eye clinic tomorrow, but the lines are long.
Okay good luck getting in
Follow up: I went to a government run eye clinic , they went over my symptoms and did a retina scan or check which didn't involve any pupil dilation, I don't know the name for the procedure. The end result was my retinas seem fine, but my symptoms might indicate a scotoma (in their opinion) and I need to go back for a full exam where they will dilate my eyes and check again.
This spot has gotten worse in the last two days, it started off only being able to see it in certain conditions, now I see it most of the time, especially when I blink. If i stare at a white piece of paper under fluorescent lights, it appears as a purplish red dot with a yellow aura around it.
Surprising that no dilation was used.  to me it sounds a visit to an ophthalmologist is in order, assuming the eye exam you already had was performed by an optometrist.
It was an ophthalmologist eye care center. I have my doubts about it. They have asked me to come back in a month, but if it turns out to be something more serious that could be a problem as time is a huge factor with things like this. I might try to find a private ophthalmologist to get another opinion. I cant seem to find anything on the internet that can give me some idea of what this is, it fits no criteria and the longer it goes on the worse and more visible it seems to get.
What is your age? It could be a "Weiss Ring" very near the retina where it would not move much and only be visible under certain lighting situations.  Do an internet search and read about Weiss Ring and pull up images of what they look like. I have one in my right eye and its a perfect circle.  The Weiss Ring can tear and look like a "C" or "I"   Obviously we cannot make a diagnosis over the internet but only offer suggestions for your to consider.  A Weiss ring would be more common if you are highly myopic and/or over 55 years of age.
Based on the images I saw I don't think it's that, this is like a small tiny dot in my vision in the upper left of my center of vision. I have no idea how it started, just that it happened after my first eye exam 2 days ago and it seems to be getting worse. In dim light or after I open my eyes it appears as a bright spot which fades slowly but is still somewhat noticeable when I blink.
I am 30 years of age.
We've gone about as far as we can go on this forum Zane.
Thanks for your assistance
Yes best of luck to you Zane
ZaneK -- Have the same thing - no idea what it is - has become prolonged and seemingly permanent lately can be seen against sky or white walls and house lights -Migraine aura without headache since 21 more freq now 57--  2 last week  pos - persisting visual symptoms, or as was once suggested slight brain damage to the cortex from migraine causing local epileptic focus -- I suspect they will find nothing on your eye exam - see if you can talk to a neuro-ophthalmologist - it may go away in time  or any neuro-active cooling drugs may help Valium, Topamax, endep etc its up to the Docs if they think they are required. Certainly try and reduce stress and look after sleep etc things you can control. The pic is a very good representation  I may use it and take it to the Doc this week - These things are very scary and very frustrating  - wish I knew what and why they are -- good luck
