Small new tear in eye after PPV

Hi Docs.

I just came back from my Doctor's appt post PPV and gas bubble over 2 months and a little week ago.  So far, the Doc said that everything is progressing well and that I will get my sight/eyes soon.  He also said that there is still some blood left in the eye but that it will eventually go away as well.

However, he said to come back next week so he can seal-laser a small tear he saw while examining my eyes today.

My questions are:

1) Will retinal tears happen all the time now after PPV and gas bubble?  My eyes/vision have improved a lot and I didnt see any signs of a tear in my vision.

2) how often do tears happen after PPV and gas bubble....average?

3) will my eye settle down soon without anymore complications...meaning no tears?

4) I, however, see a light on the upper right hand corner of my operated eye at night and day in the house.  Could this be the new small tear?  i didnt get a chance to ask him where the tear was.

5) what are the symptoms of new tears coming on so I can tell my doc immediately and prevent it from getting worse?  I know the signs and symptoms of RDs, but not tears.  Pls let me know so I can be on the lookout.

6) could tears end up being retinal detachments?

7) could tears keep happening now?  Im already worried constantly but really try harder to relax and look forward to getting on with my life....I thought i was doing really really good....but now this?

8) How often does a patient who has had PPV and gas bubble visit the doctor now?

9) when of long until things will stabilize soon (3mons, 6 mos, a year?)....where I can move on with my life, just get regular doctor's visits for tests and prevention ( and not have to go to the doc every 2 weeks)?

I appreciate your response in advance.  Hope to get some good answers and advice soon.  Thanks so much.

Dr. Hagan,

My apologies.  It's just hard going through what i have gone through.  Plus I am atill at that stage where i have so many concerns, worries and questions.

I will try to limit my questions from now on and seek the help of my surgeon some more or even a second opinion.  I just dont have medical insurance right now as well and being helped by the local commissioner for the blind and visually impaired organization with my medical bills.

Hopefull, this would not deter you from questions I might still have as I will limit them to really important ones only.

Thank you so much and have a good weekend.
