Sore eye lid, eye herpes?

Hi- I have hsv2(genital herpes) for 7 years. I'm very cautious with washing my hands and taking out and putting in my contacts. This morning out of the blue I woke up and my left eye lid is very sore, puffy and red. Every few blinks it gets blurry and feels like something was in it. Washed my eye out and the same feeling. Put my contacts in same feeling. I've read eye herpes almost always travels in the nerves to the eye. Any idea what my issue is? Could I have have slept on it wrong? What other eye problem could it be? Thanks.

Thank you, how long would you recommend washing hands after using the restroom and touching the area before taking out contact?

It's very rare for HSV 2 to infect the eye. Usually HSV 1. It's very rare for HSV 1 to cause genital Herpes.
You probably have a small corneal abrasion or a viral pink eye-best guess.
