Spot in vision

3 weeks ago, i noticed a small area of distortion just off the centre of vision in left eye; i have had a tear 3 years back in right eye. It progressed to a larger spot.

I was seen by an opthomologist last thursday and he saw no breaks or changes. It slowly got more visible and on Sunday i had it checked again. This time, after putting on a contact the opthamologist was able to see a small change in retina. Since it was in the area where i have had black spots from time to time, she thought it may be a puck/change in epithelium (as she put it) or a small csr (i have had this in the right eye). No treatment was required at this stage.

I am scheduled for a check again by the retina surgeon in first week of May. I have been told to come right away if it changes for the worst.

Could this be a retinal tear in the making?
Thanks very much for your suggestion.

Well i did go to the hospital. They checked again and saw changes in the retina after putting on a contact which may be a small csr or a puck; no break was seen. I am scheduled for 7th may check with the retina surgeon.
Before the spot was smaller but it has slowly progressed to a bit larger or so it seems.

There used to be a black spot there which i would seen occassionally with the gel pulling; same spot now i see this permanent distortion. When this change occurred, i did see a lot of new floaters in that area. Hence the suggestion some change has occurred.

Thank you Doc. I have a schedule appointment with the retina surgeon on coming Friday first thing in the morning. The symptoms are similar to those exactly i had before in the other eye where there was a large tear.
I will keep you advised.

Dear sajsan,

I would recommend that you call your retinal specialist and get checked as soon as possible as you have new symptoms.
