Swollen eye shut of an 18 months old

My 18 months old son has been having high fever for the last 6 days on and off and in the ER they said he has a virus but they can’t know which so we can only treat him with Tylenol and ibuprofen, yesterday he want to have a nap and when he woke up he had a fever of a 103.9 F and his right eye was swollen shut and had blue and red bruises on the eye lid and under the eye he had also red patches on his legs and hands with small white dots which were itching. I went to the ER and by then the red patches went away almost completely but the eye looked worse, they assumed it was an allergy and gave him Benadryl. That didn’t work, the next morning when he woke up and his eye was shut completely I went to a Dr. that told me he doesn’t know what it is and gave me Erythromycin Ophthalmic Ointment USP, 0.5% and told me to apply to the infected eye 3 times a day and if by Sunday (today its Friday), it’s not reduced in size by half I should come by again. Today after applying it twice there is no change and it even looks a bit worse. Can you please shed some light of what he might have and if I need to do something else?

Your child needs to see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible.  This could be a serious infection or related to a tumor in the body.
