Temporary partial vision affected

Hi -
I'm trying to determine whether this is something I need to be looking into or if it is most likely nothing.  A few weeks ago, I was sitting at work looking down at my work, when all of a sudden, a shadow came down like a gray curtain from the upper left corner of my left eye.  It was as if someone had walked into my peripheral field.  It was odd, I looked up to see what it was, and there was no one there, nothing.  Then it went away as quick as it came.  It didn't last but maybe a few seconds.  I was told it could be something with my eye, or it could be a TIA.  I've spoken with a couple of doctors and they don't seem to make much of it.  I'm 49, female, relatively normal BP (occasional spikes of 180/92ish), have occasional angina, and am on Cartia XT for it.  Could this be something with my eye?  It only occurred once.
Thank you.

It could be "nothing" but it could be "something". To determine which you need to start with a comprehensive medical eye examination with an ophthalmologist-physician Eye MD. Find one at www.aao.org or ask you FP or GP refer you.

Hi Steve -
Thanks for your reply.  I did go and get it checked out... The opthalmologist gave my eyes a clean bill of health and left it at that.

I'm not a medical guy at all, but my eye doc mentioned a few years ago that if I ever have a situation where it seems like a curtain has been drawn over part of my eye, to go seek medical - eye specialist help immediately.    He said it could be the beginning of retinal detachment, which could lead to blindness.  That is all I know about it,  but if I were you I'd go see a specialist with this question.

note that my name SteveMD2 is cuz I live in Maryland, not at all related to medicine.

Thank you for your reply.  I'll set up something with an opthalmologist.
