cataracts post op concerns

Hi. I was born with congenitsl cataracts and had them removed in the 70's. They removed my lens and lens sack. Ive warn high prescrption glasses ever since. 9 days ago I had an operation to sew in an artificial lens. I had close up vision the day after surgery but as yet my distance vision is just a mass of haze and glare. Is this normal? How long is tge usual recovery time please?

If your vision improved looking through the pinhole it generally indicates that glasses will improve the vision and it is not due to internal eye disease. If you see clear up close but not at distance that indicates myopia or near-sightedness.  Because you are not having a standard cataract surgery your recovery will be longer than normal and it may take 4-8 weeks for things to stabilize.

Hello. My surgery was 10 days ago. I had a follow up appointment the day after surgery and all appeared well. Im back to see the surgeon next Wednesday which will be 15 days after surgery. I've not had a sight test as yet. When I spoke to the nurse earlier this week she told me to make a pin hole in a piece of paper to see if this improved the haze (which it did) Do you think I might just possibly need glasses? Thanks for your replie.

When was your surgery? Have they done a glasses test yet?
