The American Academy of Ophthalmology has a program whereby uninsured patients are able to see an ophthalmologist without charge. This used to be called the National Eye Care Program. I think it is now called EyeCare America. Check with AAO.org. Good luck.
You did not give your age, but if you are over 40, you may have presbyopia. This is the normal age-related loss of accommodation in the lens. If you are wearing your myopic correction to read, you are asking your eyes to accommodate first to neutralize the myopic prescription, and then to accommodate to see near. After 40, our lenses do not have this much accommodative reserve. If this is the case, you will read better without your glasses. If you still have a problem, you need to see an ophthalmologist for an evaluation.
