Vision blurry after detached retina operation

I had sirgury for a partial detached retina with macula on on my left eye. After 5 weeks the gas bubble is very small but still present and my vision is still quite blurry and my pupil remains dilated. Is this normal or is there something wrong?

As @xltjim posted, have patience since recovery of final visual acuity can be a relatively slow process. In my case it took about a year following a ERM peel/vitrectomy for it to settle into its final clarity. The gas bubble that I had took about 4-5 weeks to dissipate and my pupil remained dilated for the same 4-5 weeks. I had cataract surgery then about a year a half after the initial procedure, and today (about three years hence) all seems well.

Thanks for your reply, I probably come across as over anxious but I have no idea what to expect or the time scales. Just before the operation my vision was pretty good apart from the small shadow caused by the detachment.

I had vitrectomy with the long acting gas bubble (lasted 12 weeks).  As the gas bubble dispersed I was concerned that my vision was very blurry.  The Dr. said that it was a cataract that was starting.   After the surgery I had a few complications.  Somehow my cornea got scratched, stubborn inflammation for a couple months, irritation an dryness.  My pupil was dilated somewhat for 6 months after the surgery its fine now.  Cataract was removed and I am awaiting new eyeglass prescription.   For me, it took 6 months for my eye to feel like itself again and even now I get some bad days of dryness or irritation (use clear eyes drops for that).   This is a long process that requires patience for sure!!  One thing I learned from this ordeal is to not be afraid to call your eye doc with any questions.  IMO - Use this outstanding site as a resource and to share our stories, but don't use it as a substitute for talking to your dr.
