Vision problems after cataract surgery

I am a 57 years old diabetic (type 2) male with a computer job in Toronto.I have been using bifocal noline progessive eye glassess for last six years untill I got catarcat in my both eyes.
My cataract was removed and new Multifocal Toric Tecnis (ABBOTS) IOL (intraocular lens) was replace in January,2016  in my left eye.. After 3 weeks, eye surgeon examined and told me that wrong iol was implanted so he ordered a
new  multifocal Toric Tecnis (ABBOTS) IOL which he installed one month later in February,2016 with sutures..Now I got new vision glassess but still my near and far vision is blurry, shadows, splitting, hazzy circles around word, lights in my left eye, after 3 months . My eye surgeon implanted regular monofocal iol in my right eye in March,2016,which is perfect without any problems.
I asked my eye surgeon to remove Multifocal Toric Tecnis (ABBOTS) IOL (intraocular lens) from my left eye and implant  regular monofocal iol ,  similar to my right eye..But he said there may be complications.
Kindly let me know what should I do?.Should I go to some other experienced eye surgeon in Toronto. How can I get referreal for a new eye surgeon in Toronto .

I would wonder whether there are other eye issues going on like residual astigmatism.  Usually a few months after a multifocal there isn't a problem with bothn near and far vision. Perhaps there are other eye health issues at play. Or  the mention of sutures suggests the possibility the lens might not be seated as usual in the capsular bag, perhaps its a 3 piece multifocal outside the bag and  positioned at an angle or something. It also suggests that the reference to "may be complications" might have something to do with how the current lens is attached or the condition of the structures in the eye.

The results given aren't typical of a multifocal since the majority of patients get good results. There can be problems.. as there can be even with a monofocal, so its a question of trying to make an informed risk assessment of whether the potential benefits outweigh the risks (the risk usually being a small chance of a need for a lens exchange).

This is not an unusual problem for multifocal IOLs of all types and one reason I try and be the voice of caution in those pushing multifocal/accommodating/new technology IOLs that post here.  By all means start consulting other eye surgeons experienced in IOL exchange. Note not many IOLs have to be removed or exchanged so most IOL surgeons are not experienced in this procedure. Get at least 2 different opinions. I have no idea how you will need to navigate the Canadian health system. You may need to go outside the system and pay cash or go to the USA and have someone there do it for cash.
