my father's MD said he has a nasal field defect, but didn't explain well in ''non MD terms''. What is it, is it visible or is it something only viewed under a scope? Please explain in simple terms
I have that in my right eye due to early glaucoma. The eye doctor uses a visual field test to detect field defects. I get that test annually along with an OCT that checks the optic nerve in detail.
By this do you mean it is a black smudge, a blind spot? What does it look like in your vision for example. Is it on the side closest to your nose or near your templals? Sorry trying to get information to better understand. How would one ''know'' it's in their vision?
Generally you can't tell its there except by visual field/peripheral vision testing. Google images "nasal step" to see what it looks like. It's on NOSE side.
