What is the possible conditions for a red line from the corner of the eye?

My wife is 43 and she hasn't seen a doctor even I encouraged her. It has been going on for over a week. She has a red line from corner of her eye on skin and red line in her eye and before had a red "wound" under her eye. What is some conditions that fit that? Google doesn't help.

It's like saying "I have chest pain".  It could be from doing push-ups yesterday or it could be a heart attack or pulmonary emboli. There are too many causes to give a diagnosis from what the person just said I have chest pain.  Your description of your wife's eye could be any of scores of problems.  To make a proper diagnosis requires examination with special equipment.   Sometimes from the person's description I have a good idea of what it might be.  In this case I would be guessing which is not what this forum is about.

Why? What details do you want? There is swelling under one eye and short red lines  emanating from  both eyes and some pain. It is not an injury. She does spend long periods late at night in poor light reading from her tablet. She never looks after her health  but she is a little underweight and doesn't eat at night  when hungry and eats breakfast very late and doesn't eat too badly - just ordinary sorts of Japanese food (she is Japanese living in Japan) and some junk food. We have a very active boy who gives her some exercise. She had some mild cold symptoms.
