Why Do Humans See Different Colours to Other Animals?

I need the answer for a school project, and I thought this would be a reliable source. Please note that I need people as resources, and I need you to put the answer into your own words, and no links.

I don't know much about animal vision so you'd be better off asking a veterinarian.  Many animals are color blind but the ones that do see color, we have no way of knowing if they see colors the same as us really.  Just theories out there on what colors they see I would assume.
