Why do my eyes itch, swell, and peel, just out of the blue?
Every once in a blue moon, my eyelids begin to itch. They itch so bad I just want to scratch them off my face. A couple hours later, my eyes begin to swell, almost shut. The swelling will eventually go down, about 12 hours later, then my lids peel, I guess, in some spots it is sore. They look awful. Help me please understand what is going on. I haven’t spoken with a doctor yet.

You do need your eyes examined but the most common thing that would cause that is contact dermatitis from coming into contact with something that irritates and inflames the skin. Causes are legion: cosmetics, industrial products, organic plant material, anything that might get on your hand and your rub around your eyes. Also allergy like contacts with animals, fabrics, dust, pollen, mold, etc.
