Why is my doctor having me dilate my eyes twice a day post Vitrecomy?

I had a Vitrectomy 6 days ago and an putting a dilation drop in twice a day and an anti bacterial drop 4 times a day.

The dilation puts the iris at rest and reduces inflammation within the eye and also prevents it from scarring to your natural lens or an IOL.  It is standard care for all such surgery.

Best of luck. This is huge surgery, many posts on this website about the post-op period.  Often it takes 6-12 months to know the final result. Not 3-5 weeks like cataract/IOL surgery.
