Why is my post op vision distorted and colours all wrong

Vitrectomy for extensive retinal detachment
5 weeks ago.
Thinning of Macula noted.

This is a common problem after macula off RD. It' is called 'metamorphopsia (distortion)  It often gets better with time but  can be permanent.  Color perception may be off due to inflammation or damage to the rods in the retina from the RD.  That also may be permanent.   Remember with a RD in one eye the chance of RD in the other eye can be as high as 10-20% so watch that eye carefully.

Thank you for this quick response. The vitrectomy was a nightmare under local anaesthesia. Surgeon said there was a problem with the Macula and he would do a further op.... under a general anaesthetic. However since scan it by my eye 2 weeks post op there is apparently a “thinning” rather than a hole in the Macula. I’m worried about what this means.
Since that depends on looking at the macular OCT not much I can add at this point.   macular holes are generally graded partial thickness or full thickness. Other possibility is macular traction from vitreous.
