Would like to undergo Lasik Surgery

Hi Doctor,

I am suffering from myopia with -8.5 to the right and -7.5 to the left.
This is the contact lens power I use.I am not sure of the glass power. I am now planning to undergo eye surgery. I have heard of many surgeries. Is it possible for me to undergo eye surgery with the power that I have now? Few doctors said it is not possible and few said it is possible. I have no idea on whom to trust and whom not to.

In case if I undergo any surgery would it be possible to get the sight to normal? Which surgery/operation should I undergo? I am been a regular customer to one of the famous hospital in Bangalore since 3 years and the doctors said that the power is stable.

Could you please give me an advice?

Presbyopic Multifocal LASIK
My wife (age 59) is far-sighted and is considering LASIK.   One outfit here in Southern Cal is recommending Presbyopic Multifocal LASIK.  Others won't do this since it is not yet FDA approved.  Scanning the web seems to show this procedure has been effective so far.

What is your opinion ?

Dear kambhojimani,

I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD who is familiar with all types of refractive surgery to determine which procedure is best for you.  This prescription is treatable by laser vision correction but it is dependent upon the thickness of your cornea, shape of your eye, laser used, and stability. You can find an eyeMD online by searching find an eyeMD section on the AAO.org www site. Seek the care of a refractive surgeon.
