YAG laser capsulotomy

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can offer me any advise?

When i was 20 I was diagnosed with Anterior Uveitis, After numerous test still did not find out why i developed this condition. It is always there and in one eye only. Within a year i had developed Cataract and i had surgery on this within the year of orginal diagnoses.

The Operation itself did not go has planned. I had Blured vision and my pupil is now always dilated and a funny shape.

Over the years, thru medication the doctors have tried to restore my vision. I can only work out figures, cannot read. This is all thru one eye only. My over eye has been fine. The medication has not worked and my eye does not seem to like a low dosage of eye drops either. As soon as the doctors try and reduce them, my eye becomes imflammed once again, causing pain in my eye and head.

The latest consultant which i have been seeing has tried YAG laser capsulotomy. The Hole which they seem to make closed up within weeks off it being opened. They tried this several times, each time making the hole slightly bigger but this was still unsuccessful to my disappointment.

My Consultant has now advise that i can either leave my vision has it is which is really poor. Due to my sight being so poor i dont use my eye as much no more, i do try and excercise it but it is dificult and painful.
Then My consultant advised that there is an operation i can have, were they cut into my eye and produce the hole themselves. I have been informed by nurses that this is a very old technique and is rarely done nowadays.

Is the right to do? As i am worried about this as i have been told this might not work. I want my vision back more then anything. Is it a risk i can take or do i really have no options remaining for my sight to come back?

Your advise would be much appreciated.

Thank you
