astigmatism

Hello,

my 1 year 1 month old boy was diagnosed for astigmatism. I didn't understand alot, and the little paper says OV -1.0 vertical and +1.5 horizontal (after calling back the dc told that if glasses were precsribed, the numbers would sound -1.0 +1.5 and 90 degrees, both eyes very similar). How should I see it - what degree is it. Is there any hope it can go away and he does not need glasses or needs them only for a while? Is there anything I can do to help him - vitamins, some eye gymnastics or similar?
I am totally shocked and lost on these news and will do everything to help my kid, therefore I will appreciate any advice

Thank you very much in advance for your answer

This is a small corrections and needs repeat measurements in a child this young.  I am not a pediatric ophthalmologist and do not see children.  I am not sure a child this young will tolerate the glasses.  Please get a second opinion from a pediatric ophthalmologist.
