JCH MD
Correction to my earlier post. Dr. deJuan is at UCSF. You may also want to do some research on fenretinide. Very recent limited trials are showing strong effectiveness against dry AMD with minimal side effects. You may want to see if you can participate in a Phase III clinical trial next year.
The 'best' doctor is so subjective. I have no personal experience with either of these doctors, but you might want to consult either Dr. Mark Blumenkranz, also at Stanford, or Dr. Eugene deJuan at UCSB, both highly recognized vitreoretinal doctors in the area. If you are consulting other eye physicians in other sub-specialities that are highly regarded, you can also ask them. Best of luck to you!
