Pupil dilation

I was hit by a water balloon from a launcher four weeks ago. Went to the er and they said that there was no major damage but it caused my iris to be pushed back causing inflammation. I was given a red top drop and a milky drop. The red top drop I only took the day after three times. I've been going back and my pupils huge still. I was told that it's a lasting effect of the red top drop. I thought it was weird bc I only took it one day and it was weeks ago, yesterday was a four week follow up and the specialist said that my pupil slant still be that dilated. At this point sh said that there isprob permanent muscle tear damage that is microscopic that she cldmt see. Se gave me pilocarpine drops but those made my vision terribly blurry and I don't want to have surgery. My pupil wants to react to light but it's huge. Is it still healing at this point?

It is possible that you have a traumatic mydriasis, or dilation of the pupil.  Depending on the severity of the injury, there can be tears in the iris sphincter muscle which cause the enlargement of the pupil.  This does tend to get better with time.  Even if the red cap drop was atropine, the dilation should not last 4 weeks.  If you have not seen an ophthalmologist, you need to see one for a full exam, including pupil evaluation, gonioscopy of the anterior chamber angle to look for damage related to the injury, and a dilated retinal exam.

Today I was told again that there could be a tear in my spchinter muscle but it's not noticeable to the specialist. It cld be there but it's microscopic. How long would that take to heal?

Thank you for the response. If it is a tear in the muscle, what is the average time for the dilationnto shrink? The drop was atropine. Should I be taking pilocarpine drops? The 1% makes my vision terribly blurry but the .1% does help at all.
