The tear duct is not visible. Like an underground pipeline it can't be seen. The openings of the tear sac can be seen they are called the superior and inferior punctum and are located at the inner aspect of the upper and lower lids. They are housed in a little bump and thus elevated. As we get older they often are not the same size and can get bigger and assume a yellowish appearance. This is normal. If the appearance does not change, there is no pain, no tearing, no pus it is not worrisome.

The original question, by Karen40, is: The tear duct of my right eye is yellow and a little larger than the other, is this normal? I have no pain and it does not bother me except when I look in the mirror. Can you please tell me what this could be and if I should go see a specialist?
