bright spot in eye following virus

DSC
Hello,

I have had a bright spot in my right eye since Thursday following a bad cold/cough and sinus congestion.  I've also been having a headache and nausea with it.  Could it be from the virus or a migraine?

Thank you so much for your response.  I actually have been to my doctor last week (before the eye involvement) and was told it is just a virus. Symptoms were cough, fever, chills and stuffy nose.  My husband had the same thing the week before.  Now I am having headaches, nausea and diarrhea. I actually do have a history of ocular migraines and visual disturbances but these bright spots usually fade in a few minutes.  This one has not.  I saw the ophthalmologist on Friday who did not see anything wrong.  The spot is still there however as of today.  I will call the doc again tomorrow.  I appreciate your input on this.

You need to call your doctor immediately.  It could be meningitis or other infection with spread around the eye.  If he checks you and this is not the case, then get an eye exam from an ophthalmologist.  If you don't have a history of migraines before this, it is unlikely this is a migraine.  You may have to go to the emergency room if you feel like you are getting worse and can't reach your doctor.  If you have a fever or chills currently, that would make me more concerned.  Don't sit on this.
