cat scan?

I would appreciate your advice.  For the past year I have had eye pain everyday at the very back of my eye.  It feels like ‘pinchy’ sharp feelings.  I also have quite bad photophobia and have to wear sunglasses all the time, even in dull weather and sometimes indoors too.

I already saw 3 certified ophthalmologists, but they could not see anything wrong. I had 16 blood tests done too, but they came back fine.  I also had a MRI last done last September, but there were no problems there either.

I was wonder if you think I should go back to my doctor and request a cat scan, too take a closer look at the orbital muscles to check for things like graves disease, or would the MRI have actually picked up on this.  Some times I notice too that my right eye slightly bulges and feels a bit heavier than the left eye. My MRI was of the brain and sinuses. It said in the results that the optic nerve appeared bilaterally and that there was no abnormality of the extra-ocular muscles. Would a cat scan tell me anything that a MRI can’t?

Also if the pain continues, should I get another scan in the near future?

I would appreciate your advice,
Thank you.

Dear hylander193,

IT sounds as if you might have irritation on the front surface of the eye, such as dry eyes or inflammation inside the eye, as in uveitis.  I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD to determine the cause of your symptoms.
