cataract surgery

If an iol implant has become dislocated or decentered, can it be surgically stitched back in place?  The Yag has already been done in this eye.  The double vision, noticed after the Yag,  is in my central or straight ahead vision.  Vision clears when looking out of the left side of eye or looking out from the above portion of the lens.

Thanks for your input.

Thank you, Dr. Garity, for your helpful response.  Had 20/20 vision close to 3 months. post-op, even with opacity.  Eventaully had yag.  Mild ERM-OD, hard drusen on fovea, horseshoe tear.  Prescription glasses improves distance, so it appears double vision not caused by these issues.  Without glasses see clearly only when upgazing.  Dr. who did OD, also exchanged Restor lens (OS), discovered Restor not secured due to missing zonule fibres.  Implanted monofocal lens (1/2 D. stronger), tension ring, 2 stitches, 1 removed after 3 wks.  Needs yag.  Currently on meds, swelling behind OS lens.  2nd post-op OCT scan Feb. 7.  So far, no double vision.  OD yag by resident dr.  Is it unreasonable to request my surgeon do OS yag?   Thank you, Normandie

This is extremely rare for the IOL to dislocate after yag capsulotomy. Was it dislocated before the yag laser being done? That's more likely. Either way, an IOL may be recentered with a suturing technique. You need to go to a surgeon who is comfortable with this more challenging procedure.
Sincerely,
Timothy D. McGarity, Medical Doctor, Ophthalmologist
