colored sparkles

My 12 year old daughter has been seeing colored sparkles since she was 5 1/2 years old.  She sees them 24/7 and the dimmer the light the brighter they are.  I took her at the age of 6 years to Boston Childrens Hospital and was told it was her imagination.  Last spring she saw an ophthalmologist who said that her eyes were fine and that the condition was entoptic.  Last year she confided that she had been asking her friends if they ever saw sparkles and none had. My daughter goes to sleep with a bright light on so the sparkles are dimmer and she can fall alseep. In searching online I have read of cases like this that might be caused by seizures.  Will they ever go away?  Should my daughter be checked for any other poassible causes?  By the way, aside from food allergies she is in perfect health.

I would make an appointment with her pediatrician or a dermatologist.  Ask the pediatrician to refer her to an ophthalmologist for an Eye Exam

My 12 year old daughter complained to me today that she has since recently been seeing intermittently sparkles and glitter. I didn't think much about it until my husband told me that the mole on her head has been getting bigger. She is healthy with no other issues but DQ8 neurological celiac genetics.

Given she has had them for so long and nothing serious have developed I would accept it as "one of those things that can't be explained" and move on. If something changes then a reevaluation would be appropriate.

Acute awareness of entopic phenomena would be the most likely cause
