I do not have any allergies just in case. I went in for testing right after I started the Imuran because I could not figure out why I was so sick.
I'm just a bit frustrated right now. They did test my macula and said there was no problem. I was first diagnosed with iritis. I was given an injection of Depo-Medrol and things appeared to go down hill from there. I developed ulcerative keratitis 4 weeks later over 1/2 of my cornea then a few days later, I developed a large staphyloma from 12 to 2 with significant thinning at 2. The inflammation went crazy and became non-responsive. I was given Imuran and high doses of prednisone for 7 months. I was aware that cayenne pepper is excellent for your circulation so I took it and 3 days later I only had trace inflammation left. I'm off all meds but now I'm left with all these problems. My eye-lid swells and I have proptosis. Sometimes it is slight and then other times I look like a fish. Now I'm really confused because I was told I do not have nodular scleritis and I have a very tiny spot of uveitis left and that was inactive. I thought this was auto-immune and would go into remission.
So I was thinking maybe it could have been chemically induced. I found numerous hits on the National Institute of health website and reports of anterior segmant inflammation caused by Imuran. I have also located information about chemically induced proptosis. As for discussing this with my doctor, I'm in the process of finding another doctor.
I was on the Imuran and I became very ill-It's been a year now and I'm still suffering from the toxcity and the allergic reaction I had to it. I asked him why I was kept on it for so long and he said Cellcept was too expensive, however my medication was fully covered.
the thing that I'm very curious about is my eye itched really bad from the time inflammation started until it stopped any clues on that?
You need to go over these problems with your doctor. Some of these symptoms are due to the macula and others to some other part of the visual system.
