detached retina

had a pars plana vitrectomy/endolaser/gas procedure to repair a localized detached retina in my right eye on 4/28/10.The retina specialist perfoming the surgery said I would not lose any oy my eyesight, but 3 months later I have very limited vision in that eye. The specialist said at my last appointment that everything was fine. When I asked him why my vision is still impaired he said I had a cataract on that eye. I have noticed that my pupil is still slightly dilated which the retina specialist said it is normal. Could these two things be the culprits of my poor vision? Also the poor vision in my right eye seems to be interferring with the vision in my good eye. I got some new glasses with a new prescription last month which helped some. I have an appointment with another surgeon on 7/29/10 for an evaluation on the cataract concern Thanks for your feedback and comments.

A PPV is always followed by a cataract in an eye with the natural lens and is a standard part of surgical consent form. The pupil difference is not the problem. Your consultant will likely recommend cataract surgery. Get a clearance from the retina surgeon before going ahead with it.
