difficulty opening left eye

About five years ago I was going through a period of intense stress. I was prescribed anti depressant which i took for 6 months. I noticed shortly after starting the course of medication I had difficulty opening my left eye in the morning. I rectiified itself after a few minutes, lsted for about a week, then went away. Earlier this year, I was proscribed Zoloft for GAD and the same thing happened. I have no stickiness nor redness associaited with this , although my eyes can feel a little "gritty". Can you advise me what this might be, if the symptoms are related to the medication, and if this is potentially serious.
thank you Nakada

I did speak to my doctor and he said he had no experience of anyone having symptoms like this when taking Zoloft and it was probably an allergy. GAD is Generalised Anxiety Disorder. I forgot to add on my original post , that my eyes are quite watery first thing in the morning. Thank you for your help so far. My doctor here seems useless. I moved here from Europe a year ago permanently, and am trying to get to grips with the system here. Had I remained in the UK I would have seen a specialist by now, and had an MRI ...at no cost , as health care is free. We have medical insurance, but I don't want to use it and pay the deductible if this isn't a serious condition. It is almost a year since I had the last episode with my left eye. It normally lasts 2 or 3 mornings and then disappears.
I appreciate you taking the time to consider this question. Thank you once again .

You need to speak to the doctor who prescribed the medication.  What is GAD?
