Wearing a patch over the eye is a bad option as it leads to muscle contracture and permanent double vision. This problem is difficult to fix. you should see a neuroophthalmologist or a eye muscle (strabismus-pediatric) Eye MD ophthalmologist. If you live in the USA you can find one near you at www.aao.org or ask your neurologist to refer you.

By bippert2, there's a whole bunch of new problems the surgery can and most likley bring, I've had it done twice and now I need to use an eyepatch over my dominate eye, As a sufferer of this disease I truly believe that once the eyes un-align there is no way they can work "uniformed " again.... I've had major battles since 2006 and I am active at work, and I have a social life, it'll take some adjusting, just take life one day ata a time...
The best of luck to you...
Do you have any statistics on getting eyesight back to uniform in the one eye? My husband has no high blood pressure, high cholesteral,, smokes, overwieght, etc. We have been to the nuerologist and he is the one that told us to patch the eye. He could find no cause for the stroke. My fear is that he will have another one. We are seeing an opthomologist next week.
By the way, my husband is 53.
Thanks for your info. What kind of surgery did you have? Right now, my husband is just closing his eye to see, or blocking out the left side of glasses.
Thanks for your info. What kind of surgery did you have? Right now, my husband is just closing his eye to see, or blocking out the left side of glasses. Answer: I had two strabismus surgery, the first one on 06 I never had double vision, the surgery gave me the constant double vision, what a nightmare, for 4 years I put electrical tape inside a few pairs of safety glasses I get from work, in 2010 after seeking many many many ophthalmologist I found a nurooophthalmologist, they did my second surgery BUT there is NO WAY they could unify the visions, he was honest enough to tell me I'll have eye problems for the rest of my life...... After a year of using my dominate eye ( left ) to see and do everything it has become blurry, most likely to constant usage and straining.... I try to patch it and use the bad eye to see and it's as if I'm on a tiny ship during a major storm, but people like us have to do what we have to do, I as your hubby will adapt, there WILL be lots and lots of near misses while driving, maybe even bumping into walls, As his wife please have EXTRA patience with him... I wish you guys all the luck in the World.... Ironically I'm at work, I inspect helicopters.... You can't make this up.......
Wow, you inspect helicipters? My husband is a gas plant operator and watches large computer screens. His fear is that he will not be able to go to work again. He is on short term disability right now and will go to an opthomologist Tuesday. We are hoping that there will be some kind of therapy to help. Do you feel comfortable driving? My husband gets naseous just riding. I appreciate all of your advice.
