eye infection

My daughter has gone traveling for one year ,she has done 1mth in asia and is now in Australia ,she has only been there
. 3weeks.Last tue she developed a sore eye and went to a dr's who said she has scratched the eye and gave her antibiotic drops. Two days later it was worse  so she went back ,he sent her straight to hospital, she had a bubble on it and stuff coming out. My daughter is still in the hospital, they started by giving her 3 types of drops every hour 24hs and oral antibiotics .It has taken days for them to find out what it is. They say its a bacterial infection. At first she could just see light but yestery days said it was slightly better she could open it slightly and she could see like a shadow ,they said the inf was getting better and reduced  her oral antibiotic to 500mg, To day when I spoke to her she said that the inf had widened again so they are increasing her back upto 750mg she is still having two lots of antibiotic eye drops 24hr a day.To day she told me her pupil is white , I don't know if its been like this all the time but is this normal will it return to black once it's heeled .I am getting really worried that she will lose her sight. Its very hard as I am not with her.

Thank you for your responce.

Yes she bought some daily contact lenses to take with her ,she had not worn them in the past. Its hard for me to tell what the eye is like with not being with her. She has since said the pupil isnt  white ,that it has a white film over the top which the  consultant has said is the infection. She has an infection on her pupil and around the cornea. The hospital have been very good with her they have taken pictures every day and are comparing the images daily and it is improving .She can now see her fingers moving and the other day could make out that her boyfriend had a blue top on.She has now been discharged after a week of hourly drops.Everyday she has to put in 1 drop twice a day, 1 drop every hour 6am til 11pm also cream at night and she is still on oral antbiotics. Then she has to back to the hospital every day for a check up for a week. After this they can move on to another city but she has to stay there for a month for more checks. The consultant has said that if she needs any surgery that it would be best to wait 2-3 years because the scar could fade within this time.So now its just a waiting game  to see how she recovers.

Is she a contact lens wearer? This sounds bad and I'm sorry to hear this is happening to her. If the pupil is white that doesn't sound good at all. Is she under the care of a ophthalmologist? Australia has wonderful doctors and it sounds like they are doing everything they can to help her. I wish you could be with her. If she has a bad infection and the pupil is white, then there is a good chance she could loose permanent vision. It really all depends on how well her vision is recovering. Best wishes and i wish I could be of more assistance.
sincerely,
Tim
