eye infection

My boyfriend has conjunctivitis in one eye, he has had this for a year now he has been to 4 different doctors and has taken several antibiotics. antibiotics seem to help but they wont get better because he wont stop rubbing them which makes it so much worse. we have tried eye patch, Cold compress , hot compress and eye solution but its a habit now to rub his eyes what can we do?

First be sure he is not wearing or trying to wear contact lens.  That is the most common cause of a story like you are telling.   Second often the problem is not an eye infection but a different problem such as an allergy or immune releated eye problem or dry eye.   My suggestion would be to see an eye MD ophthalmologist that specializes in cornea and external disease.
