eye lid cyst - chalazions (meibomian cysts)

I have had one of these cysts for 8 months. Two small lumps were observed by the doctor. My eye lid became very swollen, it didn't hurt. I was given drops to use twice a day and told to use warm compresses by the doctor. It didn't seem to respond to this treatment and it eventually formed a large whitehead. I was given oral antibiotics which seemed to control the infection. However, new whiteheads formed again after oral antibiotics finshed. I was told it was an accute infection. It looks pretty unpleasent. About 4 months ago it popped, in between courses of these antibiotic tablets. Eventually I had surgery where they removed one of the orginal lumps.Tthe infection has since been under control. However, where it popped a residual red tissue remains and it does not seem to be healing. The doctor has felt the second small lump in  my eyelid which probably should have been removed at the same time as the other. He said its probably not worth removing it now as its too small and the minor surgery may not benefit my eye. He thinks I have blepharitis which is the why the sore on the surface is not healing. Has anyone experienced this? It hasn't healed for 4 months. I'm concerned that it could be leading to something else. The doctor has told me to clean it for two months teice a day and to see if it goes then. Should I get a second opinion? Thanks.

I don't believe there is anything called a thyrodic cysit. Do you mean thyroid cyst? If so you need to go to the thyroid disease forum not these eye forums.

Thank you for the response.

Is it normal for a burst cyst to take months to heal? I haven't been able to track any real improvment.

Thanks again, Nick

Likely you'll be told the same thing but it may buy you some peace of mind.
