floaters and flashes

lately when I look up at a dark sky I see small jagged streaks which I can create but go away when I close my eyes. I have had floaters for years and more frequently have seen sudden dots of light. I am blind in my right eye from Vietnam and this is causing a lot of anxiety.  I saw a retinal-vitrious specialist a few days ago and two opthalmolgists within a four month period. The specialist said my gel has seperated from the retina except at the very bottom and what I am seeing could be related.  In the past he was great but seemed somewhat irritated with me this time and offered little soothing advice.
The constant looking for abnormalties is probably creating more as I avoid certain situations.  Can anyone offer any comforting words who have had similiar experiances. Instead of the boy who cried wolf I feeling like the vet who cried floater. gwolfdog

I forgot to say that Ilost vision in one eye, because the doctors I went to put me off. You must be your own advocate. Two hospitals also ignored me, so I was beaten down. I will never let anyone do that to me again. The loss was simply too great.

Souns like PVD and vitreal syneresis, which is still PVD. If your retina were detaching, you would see flashes open or closed and you could not make them happen.

Watch out for many very dark dots, and they will probably be racing around in your eye., and for light flashes that you see when your are looking down, up, or straight ahead.

You have a right to check in with a doctor whenever you feel uneasy. I have lost 80% of vision in one eye, and that's what I do. PVD can be scary and it can also start a detachment. I am just as jumpy as you. We must be careful.

I hope you are OK
