fog in corner vision of both eyes

I am 33 year old male, nearsighted and been dealing with dry eye problem for 10 years. Last eye exam was about 2 years ago and everything was ok.

As of 3 month ago, following some extreme dryness and pain in both of my eyes for a couple of days I stated getting blurry film / fog that passes quickly over my field of vision on horizontal eye movement. Its in both eyes. Hard to decide for the size of it horizontally because it passes very fast, but vertically its about 75% of field of vision with no fog on the bottom. The brighter it is outside, the more noticeable it is for me. Almost as if film sits in very outside corners of my eyes vision and passes over my eyes when I move eyes horizontally to that corner and disappears only to return to its very corner when I look straight again.

Its more of an annoyance / worry then vision impairment for now. I scheduled to see an ophthalmologist. Unfortunately its still weeks away since doctor's offices I called don't seem to think its an emergency. I don't have flashes in corners of my eyes and that film / fog is blurry  and not like a black/white curtain abstracting my view. It only moves on my eye movement so its not really like floaters either. Any ideas? Should I be really freaking out and try getting an appointment sooner? Thanks!

PVD= posterior vitreous detachment the most common cause of new floaters.

Finally got to see MD today! Doc says I got PPVD in both eyes and thats what causing that blur that I get in both of my eyes on horizontal eye movement. She also said that its nothing to worry about and eventually it will get detached completely and I guess stay in my eye but out of my sight, on the bottom of it. Feels weird thinking about something detaching and floating in my eye for good but I guess I welcome the fact that it will not be in my field of vision anymore. Thanks for responding to my post doctor.

you are due a test - as it has been 2 years - call the optoms office and state the problem you are having and see if you can get the appointment sooner. maybe somthing or nothing but an eye exam would be the next  logical step.

It could be bilateral vitreous floaters but it needs checked out to be sure there is no bleeding in eye, retinal detachment. etc. Call an Eye MD and try and get in Saturday morning. FInd one at www.aao.org
