hair dye vs glaucoma

A lady friend who has glaucoma was told not to use hair dye to color her hair.  Is this a correct statement?  If so, is there any particular hair dye that may be safe to use?

Not that I am aware of.  Chemicals/fumes can irritate eyes and all unnecessary exposure should be minimized for all eyes but there are no fumes that are known to affect glaucoma patients more so than the average Joe.

I now understand the fumes from hair dye may affect a person's eyes with gluacoma.  Is this statement not true?

I have never heard of such a thing and don't understand what hair has to do with the eyes.  Maybe she recently had surgery and they are worried about chemicals getting in her eye?  I have not heard of any reputable research that says one way or another.
