Dear Doctor, what food do you recommend me to eat in order to keep my eyes(especially retina) in good condition,in other words, keep them healthy? Can you give me a few alternatives? Thanks a lot!!!
Thank you very much ,doctor!!!Your answers encourage me a lot.I was too cautious and worried too much .Thank you again!!!Hope you do better in your running!Sorry for bothering so many times!!!
A study was done on runners/joggers and the incidence of RD was less than the general populaton. A second study of retina surgeons indicated the most did not mind their patient who had had a RD run or jog. Also with the increase in runners/joggers over the past 15 years there has not been an increase of RD, the incidence of RD has actually decreased (this is mainly due to better and safer cataract surgery)
PS I'm a runner, 3 marathons, 20+ half marathons and I have lattice degeneration and retinoschesis. My retina surgeon does not mind me running, swimming, lifting weights, etc.

I would allow a patient of mine that is a -6.25 to play basketsball, football, racquetball, etc PROVIDE they were proper eye protection. Proper eye protection is not contact lens.

Thanks a lot Doctor! And Thanks for the other two guys! the last question:can i play basketball if i wear proper protection? Thank you!Best regards to you all!!!
Jogging will not increase of RD, tennis only if you get hit in the eye, so wear proper protection. Your risk of RD is probably something like one in 2000 to 3000.

Wear proper protective glasses (or prescription glasses which will properly cover your eyes) during play, jogging & all situations where injury to eye can happen,
Retina detachment can happen to anyone at anytime, main cause of it is eye trauma, eye surgeries, diabetics, hereditary etc even though high myopia is a risk factor.
go get your eye check by an retina eye doctor to be sure, i dunno dude but i was scare too, i start to see starburst and my optometist push me to do a retina specialist to check out my eye, they did an eye exam where they shine bright light to my eye and told me to looks in all directions so they can see the whole back retina of my eye. go see an eye doctor MD to be safe. but i think it ok, i have a friend who wore glasses like me and high nearsighted like you and play basketball all the time and she fine, in fact her eyes vision are eve better than mine.
