No, nothing like as much when I was very young. It increased quickly during my tens and early 20's but, although it is still increasing, it is far more stable now. When I was in my early 20's, my myopia was about -20 or so.

PVD is Posterior Vitreous Detachment.
Almost all aging people are confronted with pvd, but myopics get it much earlier than others. The problem is that the vitreous which is the jelly in the eye liquidifies and detaches and may tear on the retina.

But what about a group of myopics?
THE ANONYMOUS MYOPICS for example.

Hi,

I'm 43 years old and have not had a retinal detachment. I suppose I have been lucky, so far, as my mother has. I am registered Partially Sighted.

Well as far as i know there isn't much u can do to stop it increasing I'm still waiting!! So do u wear contact lenses? Wat is the prescription of them? Floaters are a nightmare!!! But u do get used to them eventually. So far no retina detactmenfs.. Wanted to ask you abt the laser to strengthen your retina why did they do that because I have a weak retina would that be of any use to me.

My myopia is -32.25 and -32.75 and I wear glasses and have reasonably good vision. My mother's myopia is well into the -40's and, although she is registered blind, she has some 'useful' vision with glasses.

I doubt if a -37 lens is correct, An eye that long would likely not see well enough to justify such a thick lens.

Hi. I too suffer from very high myopia (-16) which continues to worsen. I am very worried that it hasn't stabilized yet after 25 years. Has anyone told you at what age your myopia might settle? Do you think surgery is a good idea? Am I likely to have a detached retina? Surely -37 vision is not possible.
Anxious.

Hi.don't worry you are not alone. I'm 28 years old I have a prescription of -24 in both eyes in glasses and in contacts it's -17 and it still hasn't settled I have had a Pvd that's where the jelly at the back of the eye collapses sum floaters. No retina detactmenfs so far.just make sure you have your eyes checked regular and stop stressing I know it's hard but I know someone with the vision of -37!!!! So jst be grateful  for wat u can see. If you have any other question please feel free to ask
Take care

There is no way to predict what will happen with your eyes. The myopia eventually stops. The best thing is that you will have acceptable vision all your life. you can use the search feature and archives to read about pathological myopia. You need to see an Eye MD annually all your life.
