hot flashes

I am 60 years old, had a complete hysterectomy 21 years ago, and I am NOW having hot flashes!
Why, at this age?  I recently stopped (properly) taking Peroxitine.  Surely that has nothing to do with the hot flashes.  I wake several times during the night, can't seem to stay asleep all night.  I am TIRED!
