how to protect eyesight from compuiters

I m 34 years old , male . I have shortsightedness ( Myopia). my right eye is .75 and left is 1.25. I have slight variation in cylinder and spherical vision as well and axis is 170 degrees. I have to work for prolonged working hours with computers. Im afraid that my vision would further go down with the passage of time if i kept working with computers. moreover, can i protect my eyes by any means. I have heard that LCD monitors harm less to the eyes as compared to CRT monitors. is that true? Can you suggest any specific food that can improve the vision of somehow protect it.

If the LCD monitor is too bright tone down the brightness a bit. You can also cover the monitor with a cool anti-glare protection screen. You can buy it at many computer hardware store. Try to chill out and take a 5 minutes break every now and then.

I know that there are only two carotinoids which pass blood ocular barrier and store in retina, vascular tract and lens- it's zeaxanthine and lutein. Lutein and Zeaxanthine form yellow pigment of macula in retina. Lutein and zeaxanthine are acting as a filter of the first line in iris, against harmful blue light, especially when the pupil is narrowed because of high illumination. Normally human's eyes daily needs  6.9 -11.7mg of lutein and 1 mg of zeaxanthine, which reduces the risk of age-related macular degeneration for 43-50 %.
There is only one medicine, which contains the exact amount of lutein and zeaxanthine, that we need for good vision. It's ZEALUT. It's made in USA.
Zealut is very good for
Age-related macular degeneration
Visual loading, systematic computer work in any age (computer visual syndrome CVS)
Druing work, connected with rich light impact (welding,  soffits);
During long contact with huge water or snow surfaces an other.

If you need more info, I'll be my plasure to help

Thanks for the valuable suggestions. I have also observed that even with prolonged working you dont really feel strain on your eyes with LCD monitors. Perhaps the electrons that emit from the CRT monitors and strike on the phosphorous screen give much more glare and some electric charge as well. that adversly affects the eye health.  but i have yet to find some substantial document / research on it. I met an ophtalmologist and to my utter surprise he said ...these are all myths...neither computers nor reading in bright or low light effect your eyes. ..but he didnt give me any solid evidence to support his argument. he also said that the distant vision of a person gets settled at the age of 20, you only need reading glasses after the age of 40. I would like to listen some more opinion on the subject,
best regards

My case is very much similar to your case. From experience, I’ve found that LCD monitors are less harmful. I’d asked my doctor to suggest any food that can help improving my vision problem but he said that from the age of 35 individuals are likely to face vision problems and no food will help in such case. However, I am very much keen to listen from others on this issue.
