how can you tell what vision number

i am not sure how to put the question. i had lasik 6 years ago and have not had any problems. nov. 2008 i had a retinal detachment. i am nearsighted in that eye. everyone says "oh you had the lasik surgery didnt you" i have researched and can find no contection except that i am nearsighted. i got the refractive numbers from my old prescription but cant understand what they mean what do i look at to see my strength. thank you

Thank you so much. when i had the detachment, the Doctors were asking meif I knew my strength in the left eye.  Thanks again.

It should say something roughtly like this
OD: -3.75 - 1.25 x 78
OS: -2.50 - 0.75 x 97

The number of course will be totally different, but the pattern should be similar.  In the end you really don't need to know your numbers anyway - just show them to your ophthalmologist and they will take care of it for you.
