is this retinoblastoma or something to worry about?

Hello, would it be possible to look at my 7.5 month old son's photo in this link and let me know what you think? Is this something to worry about? There is no family history, no visual problems, seems to develop fine. He has a small lentil-size lump at the back of his scull where the scull meets the neck. Other than that he seems fine.

This is definitely a problem. Coats' disease is a real possibility here and it is very serious and can mimic retinoblastoma. You need to see a GOOD ophthalamologist ASAP.

Hello,

thank you very much for your reply. I took my doctor to the GP (in the UK you go tot he General Practitioner forst) who said it's nothing to worry about although she didn't know anything about the condition. I took him to an eye clinic and he was checked for viion problems and on Friday he will have his eyes checked for retinoblastoma.

Would the small lump at the back of his neck  (they say swollen gland) have naything to do with it if it was retinoblastoma?
Nobody is interested in the swollen gland, they say it's nothing to worry about but it could be nothing, it could be something more serious.

Kind regards,
Angelika

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL

Dear blondieAS,

I would recommend that you take your son to an eyeMD immediately.  Any time there is a whitening of the red reflex with a photograph, this should be investigated and may indicate a serious problem, such as retinoblastoma. An eyeMD will be able to advise you.
