itchy red swollen eyelids,,,not Blepharitis - please help me!!!!

here i go....so for the last 6 months i have had itchy eyelids...my eye doctor told me it was due to mild allergies and prescribed eye drops which didnt help in the least so i turned to over the counter allergy medicine which hasn't helped either (so i dont think it's allergies) and in the last 3 weeks not only are my eyelids itchy but when i wake up in the morning my upper eye lids are bright red and swelled up so bad that its embarassing!!!! i have switched makeup brands, stopped wearing makeup all together, changed pillowcases religiously, done the compresses, used mild baby shampoo on my eyes to clean them now, i take my vitamins, gone to the dermatologist who again prescribed more allergy medication (hasnt worked) went to an Ophthalmologist who said he didnt think it wasnt blepharitis but really wasnt sure what was going on so he prescribed me bousch & lombs neomycin and polymyxin b sulfates and dexamethasone ophthalmic ointment USP to apply to my eyelids which if anything in the last 4 days of using it has actually caused the swelled upper part of my eyelids to burn...typically the swelling goes down thru the day but by the time night hits theyre back to being all swelled up again...im 25 and done as much research as i can...this is literally killing me...(and i hate not wearing makeup!!!) please oh please if you have any ideas of what i may be doing wrong or what i can do to help my poor eyes let me know!!! anything will help at this point!
thanks

Update!
I used Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Walmart's brand) on my eyelids (3 x a day for the last 2 days) and my eyelids are better. I then used it on my face, arms and legs, no more dry, itchy skin. There is a very slight odor, but does go away quickly, besides that, I'm sold on using this. I'm fed up with this Blepharitis. Also, my 18 lb dog has been itching a lot lately. I rubbed him down once with a little of this oil and he has not scratched once in 2 days. Awesome!

Yikes!  I'll just say I'm 60 and this very upsetting eye problem began about two months ago.  I've never had allergies before.  My right eye is swollen, very red, itchy beyond words, and skin has now become kinda crusty.  Like you, I aged 20 years overnight.  Very humbling to say the least.  Have seen my GP and my opthamologist and both dismissed the problem since my vision was not impacted - yet!  Tomorrow I go to see a dermatologist and I am not expecting much help.  Should I try the Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo?  At night it seems I almost scratch the skin on my eyelid off!  Help!!

Glad I found this post, so much good info. I've had this problem for over a year. My main problem which I've not read here is...my eyes feel very heavy. When I blink it feels like sandpaper. Hard to keep my eyes open, I squint mostly. I have pain in the back of my eyes. I've seen a specialists (every test done) and all is great except I have Blepharitis. This week I'm having the worst flareup. I wake up in the mornings and my eyes are stuck together, red and puffy, only on the upper eyelids. My eyes are extremely dry. I use Systane Ultra about e/2 hrs. Helps for about an hour. I require oxygen when I sleep and I know this dries out your skin. I've had to use oxygen for the past 5 years, so I don't think that is the cause of my problem. I'm not able to wear makeup at all. I'm allergic to about 35+ meds, so there is not much I can use. Can never use steroids. I also believe this is affecting my eye sight.  Anyone else feel-have the same? Thanks to all for the info. I pray we all get better, able to get rid of this.
