Thank you for your response. At least I know more now to base my decision upon. I do want to protect my right eye and it sounds like that is part of what this surgery does.
Yes, most likely you have neo vascularization caused by retinal ischemia. This can lead to a vitreous hemorrhage and lead to loss of vision, but more seriously it can lead to neovascular glaucoma. This is very difficult to control and will lead to total loss of vision and severe pain.
