lattice degeneration laser theraphy

Hello,
I recently found out that i will need to have laser therapy for my right and left eye.  I was told that i have lattice degeneration and i also have traction on both eyes.  I am 27 female and chinese.  I have been reading up on this topic online and i just have a few questions that i thought you guys might be able to help me with before i go for the surgery.

I was wondering how they actually do the operation, how long it takes to heal, i heard that i might see floaters if i go through the surgery (i don't have any at the moment).  I'm also worried about complications during surgery and the chances of me going blind (sorry but this is my very first surgery!).  Will i be able to see after the surgery?  What are the chances of me requiring more surgery later on?

I'm sorry if i'm asking a lot of questions but I'm just very worried about this.  I already have a full consultation appointment before i go for the surgery but i thought that maybe you guys will be able to clear up some of my fears before i go for the consultation.

Thanks for your time.

Lattice degeneration with traction is not an indication for laser treatment.  Most cases do not need treatment unless there is an acute horseshoe tears--most patients have symptom of floaters and flashes.

The complications of treatment for an acute retinal tears are most commonly 1) RD is not prevented and 2)macular pucker.

See a retinal specialist.

The pupil is dilated and the cornea numbed, A special lens with a mirrow is put on the eye and an aiming beam aimed at the lattice then a heat producing laser is used to create a burn that seals the retina to the underlying eye to try and prevent a retinal detachment. You can do most activities but probably avoid very heavy bending, lifting stooping. The chances of going blind are almost zero. Risks include that you could stil have a RD or could develop bleeding or swelling of the macula. Yes you can see but the vision is blurry for about 20 minutes after treatment.
